Detailed Job Description
The Saunders College of Business invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Finance, at the Assistant Professor level. Candidate must hold a Ph.D. (ABD) in Finance or related field. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate finance courses and publishing high-quality scholarly research. We offer an undergraduate major and a graduate program in finance, and we just launched a Ph.D. program. We seek talented individuals to support these programs. A wide range of courses are taught in these programs including advanced courses in the areas of fixed income management, derivatives/risk management, econometrics, blockchain/cryptocurrency, financial analytics, and algorithmic trading. The candidate will be evaluated on a wide range of credentials including quantitative background, publications, teaching experience, relevant industry experience, and the ability (plus interest) to deliver advanced courses to support various programs. Ability to teach graduate-level courses on topics such as financial analytics, FinTech, and algorithmic trading, as well as ability to teach PhD-level methodology courses would be preferred.
The typical teaching schedule is four courses per academic year for the first five years on tenure-track, four or five after that depending on research productivity. Faculty must be qualified by AACSB standards at time of hire and must maintain such qualifications on a continuing basis. Department/College Description
The Department of Finance and Accounting is served by 16 faculty members dedicated to delivering high-quality education and research in finance and accounting. The department offers undergraduate programs in both finance and accounting. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science program in Accounting and Analytics and a Master of Science program in Finance. These programs are designed to equip students with practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for their careers. Required Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD with expected completion by December 2026 may be considered. Candidates meeting this requirement will be evaluated using a variety of criteria related to the job including the following:
• Skills, background, experience, and interest relevant to supporting the graduate and undergraduate finance programs including the Ph.D. program
• Strong publication potential as evidenced by such things as a promising dissertation, a promising program of research, articles under review, and/or publications in reputable journals
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
