Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of Mechanical Engineering
The Division of Energy, Matter and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking applications and nominations of candidates in the areas of experimental fluid mechanics, microfluidics, and soft and complex materials for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to start in Fall 2027. Candidates with backgrounds and expertise in emerging domains within these fields that have strong prospects for extending our sponsored research program are encouraged to apply. The new faculty member is expected to play an important role in the MSE and biomedical engineering programs. Research in these areas is expected to secure continuous external funding and to lead to novel applications in fluid dynamics, such as health engineering, environmental modeling, microfluidics, and biology-on-a-chip devices.
The successful candidates are expected to:
- Develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program;
- Have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering and related areas;
- Engage in discipline, division, school, or university services appropriate to the position; and
- Advance the goals and strategic plans of SSE and UMKC.
