The Department of Philosophy seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning Fall semester, 2027. Area of Specialization (AOS): Philosophy of Language. Areas of Competence (AOC): Open, though the Department would especially welcome AOCs in Philosophy of Place or Time, Latin American, Critical History of Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of Art. The successful candidate will contribute to a pluralistic and inclusive philosophy curriculum and will complement the research and teaching offerings of the Haverford and Bryn Mawr Philosophy Departments. The teaching load is 5 teaching credits/academic year: 2 regular courses/semester, plus one credit for a senior thesis course co-taught by all philosophy faculty. The 4 regular courses typically include 1 course at the introductory level, 2 at the intermediate, and 1 at the advanced.

Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in Philosophy (or in an affiliated discipline, with equivalent philosophical training) or be on schedule to defend, by June 1, 2027.
