Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track
Clinical Professor in Restorative Dental Sciences (Prosthodontics)
of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 537125), to commence as soon
as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility
of renewal and consideration for tenure prior to the expiry of a
second four-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory
performance. Outstanding candidates may be considered for
appointment on tenure terms.
The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong,
China and the only one in China that uses English as the medium of
instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes, research excellence, knowledge exchange
(KE) and clinical/professional services have attained global
recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s global rankings among
the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for

strategic research themes include AI+ & Precision Dentistry,
Regenerative Dentistry, Global Oral Health, and Oral Ecosystem
& One Health. The Faculty also plays important roles in public
and professional education through its KE activities and Global
Education Hub for Oral Healthcare Professionals (GEHOHP),
translational research & innovation via its Global Hub for
Future Dentistry (GHFD) in collaboration with HKU
Techno-Entrepreneurship Core and Hong Kong Science & Technology
Parks Corporation, and enhancement of its global impacts through
proactive engagement, networking and partnership.
We are seeking an experienced academic leader with strong
international connections and standing, and a passion for
contemporary clinical dentistry, excellent teaching and innovative
research. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in innovative
teaching methods aligned with modern educational philosophies and
possess advanced clinical skills in Prosthodontics. A proven
international research track record in Prosthodontics, with
particular expertise in implant dentistry and/or gerodontics, is
highly desirable.
Applicants should possess a dental or medical Bachelor’s degree or
an equivalent qualification, a clinical specialist qualification or
equivalent status in Prosthodontics, and a Ph.D. degree or an
equivalent research degree. They should also have:
outstanding research and scholarly achievements which are
internationally recognised;
demonstrated leadership in teaching and learning;
distinguished clinical expertise and excellence;
leadership in Faculty and University affairs;
leadership in own clinical specialty; and
leadership in KE activities of international recognition.
The appointee will be responsible for leading the discipline in the
education of undergraduate and taught postgraduate students,
supervising research postgraduate projects, and leveraging an
international network to conduct cutting-edge research in
Prosthodontics and interdisciplinary projects, thereby advancing
academic and clinical excellence.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and
experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical
benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of
gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity
and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme,
totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will also be
provided as applicable.
