Position Description
The Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering (MSME), in the field of solid mechanics. The expected start date is July 1, 2027.
Basic Qualifications
A doctoral degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field is required by the time the appointment begins.
Additional Qualifications
We seek candidates who have a strong research record and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, training, and advising. The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

- Names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate’s undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor.
If visa sponsorship is needed, Harvard retains the discretion to determine which visa status is appropriate and whether a visa sponsorship application will ultimately be submitted, including payment of any applicable fees.

Salary Range
$140,700-$174,500 for tenure-track rank. Pay offered to the selected candidate is dependent on factors such as experience, training or qualifications, field of scholarship, and accomplishments in the field.
