In the department, there is a growing research interest in the newly developed field of Cardio-oncology. Our Cardiac Biology Research Group has internationally recognized strengths in fibroblast biology and fibrosis, HFrEF modeling (MI, I/R, TAC), cardio-oncology, cardio-immunology, and hiPSC-derived disease modeling. All cardiac researchers are welcome to apply, but we are particularly interested in candidates who will complement and expand our expertise in:

- Sarcomere biology and force generation
- HFpEF modeling
- Translational research bridging basic and clinical science
Faculty will benefit from strong institutional support and integration with the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences, LSU Shreveport-CCDS, which offers exceptional opportunities for collaboration in vascular biology, including atherosclerosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, neurovascular injury/stroke, peripheral artery disease, and microvascular dysfunction.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading an innovative and sustainable research program supported by NIH R01 or equivalent funding. NIH K99 awardees are welcome to apply.
- Publishing impactful findings in high-quality journals and presenting at national/international conferences
- Teaching and mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical students, and residents
- Contributing to departmental and institutional service and fostering a collaborative scientific environment
Application Process: Please submit: (1) cover letter, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) statements of research and teaching interests, and (4) contact information for at least three references.
