Tenure Track Faculty Positions,
Programme in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology
Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS), Singapore’s only graduate-entry medical school, is a landmark collaboration between two world-ranking institutions of higher education – Duke University and the National University of Singapore (NUS). Duke-NUS provides innovative education and impactful research to advance medicine and improve lives. Through our strategic partnership with Singapore Health Services (SingHealth), the largest public healthcare cluster in Singapore, the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre fosters cutting-edge collaborations in translational and clinical research, driving discoveries and solutions to global healthcare challenges.
The Programme in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology (CSCB) is one of the Signature Research Programmes at Duke-NUS. The Programme is dedicated to advancing deep biological understanding of cancer and stem cell systems, spanning molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal levels. We value research that challenges existing paradigms, uncovers new principles of disease biology, and lays the foundation for future translational and clinical advances. Faculty within CSCB are part of a vibrant and interdisciplinary research environment embedded within a leading Academic Medical Centre. Duke-NUS offers exceptional opportunities for collaboration with clinicians and oncologists across Singapore’s healthcare ecosystem, particularly with the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), fostering long-term, bidirectional exchange between bench discovery and patient-oriented outcomes. More information about CSCB faculty, research activities and facilities can be found at www.duke-nus.edu.sg/cscb.
CSCB is seeking to fill multiple tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels. We are looking for outstanding scientists who are driven by fundamental discoveries, interdisciplinary research, and intellectual curiosity, and who aspire to see their research ultimately inform improved cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, while advancing the frontiers of novel drug development.
The successful applicant should be highly collaborative and demonstrates strong enthusiasm to actively engage with both basic scientists and clinicians across disciplines. They will be expected to address complex research questions and compelling healthcare concerns, work within multidisciplinary teams to advance the frontiers of science, and contribute meaningfully to the school’s and the nation’s key priority areas.
Applicants with expertise in translation, innovation, and commercialisation are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will also be expected to secure external research funding, mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and actively contribute to Duke-NUS’ core missions of teaching and research excellence. Candidates are required to hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.
We welcome applicants across the full spectrum of cancer and stem cell biology, including but not limited to the following areas:
- RNA biology, with the vision of elucidating RNA as a drug target or advancing RNA-based therapeutics
- Therapeutics discovery, focusing on the development of novel upstream therapeutic modalities
- Tumor microenvironment, particularly cancer immunology
- Functional genomics, computational and systems biology, focusing on scalable platforms for interrogating cancer evolution, heterogeneity, plasticity, and drug resistance
- Cancer as an age-related disease
- Emerging technologies enabling mechanistic and translational insights such as in situ structural biology, machine learning driven protein design, and related approaches
Excellence in any area of basic or discovery-driven cancer and stem cell research will also be strongly considered.
Faculty recruits will be provided with a competitive salary, research space, and generous start-up research support funds. Suitable candidates may also be considered for joint appointments with NCCS.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, and the names of three referees to hr@duke-nus.edu.sg and attention to:
Administrative Chair
Search Committee, CSCB
Duke-NUS Medical School
Applications will be open until the positions are filled and we anticipate beginning to interview candidates from June 2026.
