Tenure-Track Faculty Specialist - Clinical Specialist
Western Michigan University has a position opening in Kalamazoo, Michigan for a permanent full-time tenure track Faculty Specialist - Clinical Specialist in the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. Position requires a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counselor Education. Position also requires a doctoral dissertation in the area of under presented student populations in Counselor Education, including training of 12 months of full-time experience managing clinical counseling services or training. Minimum license requirement is a limited licensed counselor license in the State of Michigan.
Job duties: Teach university graduate courses in general counseling and clinical courses including CE 6045 Counseling Techniques; CE 6855 Theories of Counseling; CE 6615 Foundations Systemic Family Therapy; CE 6132 Internship II; and CE 7121 Doctoral Internship I: Supervision and Counseling. This faculty specialist position will serve as a faculty member in the counselor education unit and the clinical coordinator within the unit. Responsible for teaching and service roles for a total of 15 credit hours per semester, including teaching general and clinical graduate courses, serving as clinical coordinator, and graduate student advising. Coordinate the practicum and internship experiences, and work with the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) directors and staff. Coordinate the administrative aspects of clinical experiences within the department from the application process to assisting with class assignments. Maintain on-going communication with site supervisors to ensure compliance with all departmental expectations for students' clinical experiences and to support site supervisors' roles. Advise graduate students and serve on departmental committees.
