The Autonomous Enterprise: Designing Governance Protocols for Agentic AI

About the Project

As artificial intelligence moves from decision support to autonomous action, organizations face new questions of accountability, trust, control, and human oversight. This DBA research opportunity focuses on the design of governance protocols for the integration of agentic AI into enterprise workflows.

Possible research directions include decision rights for autonomous systems, accountability loops, human-machine collaboration, ethical guardrails, escalation protocols, and organizational readiness for AI agents. The aim is to design a practical governance artefact that helps organizations move from experimentation to responsible implementation.

This opportunity is particularly relevant for experienced professionals working in financial services, healthcare, logistics, consulting, technology, operations, or digital transformation. Candidates may develop and test a governance framework, AI control model, or decision protocol within a real organizational context.

The DBA candidate would be expected to connect academic research with a practical business problem and develop an artefact that can be evaluated for usefulness, feasibility, and organizational impact.
