Previous research related to this The inflammatory response to recurrent hypoglycaemia in diabetes project at University of Dundee has shown that glycaemic variability, the alteration between hyper- and hypoglycaemia has persisting effects on systemic inflammatory markers that may contribute the increased risk of micro and macrovascular disease.

Programme Structure

In this project the student will use

flow cytometry and other techniques to examine inflammatory markers in people with type 1 and 2 diabetes with and without increased glycaemic variability.
