About the Role
The Transformation Governance and Planning Lead drives the delivery of a clear, prioritised transformation portfolio aligned to Swinburne’s strategic ambitions.
Working closely with the Director, Transformation Management Office (TMO), you’ll provide expert advice to senior leaders and governance forums—shaping investment decisions and enabling confident, outcome-driven transformation.
You’ll elevate portfolio investment governance and prioritisation practices, designing fit-for-purpose frameworks and driving continuous improvement, with a strong focus on value and benefits realisation. You’ll also own the integrated transformation roadmap, ensuring visibility, alignment, and informed decision-making across the University.
Partnering with stakeholders across Strategy & Transformation, Finance, and the broader organisation, you’ll embed consistent, high-quality investment governance practices that support delivery at scale.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the University’s investment governance frameworks, standards and processes for projects and programs. Ensure alignment with strategic objectives, delivery needs, and compliance requirements.
- Define clear investment governance pathways, decision rights, stage gates and escalation mechanisms across the full initiative lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain an integrated portfolio roadmap and delivery plan
- Identify and create awareness of material dependencies; escalate to responsible owners and the Executive to ensure managed and potential impacts minimized
- Design and maintain the portfolio prioritisation framework, including sequencing logic, decision criteria and trade-off mechanisms to support executive investment decisions
- Lead and define portfolio level risk and issue management frameworks, ensuring consistency, transparency and early escalation of material risks.
- Provide independent challenge and advice on risk exposure, control effectiveness and mitigation strategies to senior leaders and governance forums.
- Define and continuously enhance governance tools, templates and artefacts to ensure consistency, usability and alignment with enterprise governance and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- A postgraduate degree level qualification in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Relevant Project Management or Governance qualifications.
