About the Role

We are seeking a Trial Coordinator to manage a study that aims to predict pregnancy outcomes in our multi-ethnic East London population using cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from first trimester maternal blood. The study is part of a large strategic award from Barts Charity to create infrastructure and services to support the analysis of cfDNA, which can be leveraged to develop novel diagnostic tools for a wide range of pathologies. The Trial Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing the recruitment of study participants, sample processing and storage, as well as data collection and management. They will work as part of a team, liaising with clinical and non-clinical academics involved in the study, PhD students, clinical staff, technical staff and other key team members, to ensure the delivery of the study’s objectives.

About You

We seek an ambitious and self-motivated individual with previous experience of participation in health research projects within the NHS/hospital environment. The successful candidate should hold a Good Clinical Practice Certificate, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have experience in dealing with patients/public across a range of cultural groups. A track record of effective communication with patients and staff, and successful project management are essential. Fluency in a south Asian language (e.g., Sylheti/Bengali, Urdu), and experience with phlebotomy and handling clinical specimens are desirable but not essential.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students.
