UNC Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist

Position Summary/Description

The University of North Carolina's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting a non-tenure track, open rank faculty member within the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The Division's clinical programs include high-risk obstetric care, perinatal consultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, genetic services, invasive fetal therapy, and perinatal outreach. Division faculty members are active participants in the activities of UNC's Collaborative for Maternal and Infant Health, which provides multidisciplinary care coordination for families referred for fetal malformations. Division members actively participate in student and resident teaching and provide subspecialty training for six Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellows through its ACGME-approved fellowship program.

The Department is currently ranked fourth nationally in NIH funding, with six federally funded investigators within the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division. This academically oriented Division has an outstanding record of epidemiologic research and is one of the participating institutions in the NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network (MFMU). The Department also has an active Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Program. Biomedical and public health graduate programs offer extensive opportunities for collaboration in basic science and translational research.

Opportunities and resources for career development are abundant, whether in clinical leadership/quality and safety, medical education, or clinical/translational research.

The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of the top programs in the country, with more than 100 faculty in 10 different divisions and more than 50 residents and fellows. The department is widely recognized for its innovative clinical care, robust research portfolio, and outstanding residency and fellowship training programs.
