Undergraduate Research Assistant (Student)
Summary
Using a mixed-methods design, this study will include qualitative interviews of 15-20 incarcerated individuals and 8-12 correctional staff in four facilities in Maryland or Pennsylvania. This study will also rely on quantitative analysis of name-redacted records of disciplinary actions, program completion, and leadership roles.
Essential Functions
- Background research on protocol development.
- Background research on IRB requirements for vulnerable populations (incarcerated people).
- Assist with development of survey items.
- Assist with submission to American University IRB.
- Outreach to prisons in efforts to gain access and assist with prison visit scheduling.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Part-time. 10 hours per week.
Salary Range
$18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience
- Current AU undergraduate student.
- Organized.
- Teachable.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Familiar with prison environment and regulations.
