The Institute of Civil Law (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christian Rabl) is seeking to fill a position as University Assistant (prae doc) starting April 6, 2026. The employment level is 30h/week.

The employment for prae doc assistants is for 4 years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.

Interested candidates with a degree and above-average academic achievements, particularly in civil law and in the minor subjects of private law, are invited to apply.

This is what you do:

  • You will be involved in research projects and academic studies in the field of civil law.
  • We expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
  • You will work on and complete your dissertation.
  • You will teach courses independently in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.
  • You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.

Minimum requirements:

  • Completion of a law degree with clearly above-average results
  • High level of professional competence, methodological and didactic skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • IT user skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Desirable qualifications are:

  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Initial experience in academic work
