The Counseling Center at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is seeking a University Counselor in Residence. This is a 10-month position provided with a residence on campus: on-campus living with students is required. The University Counselor in Residence reports to the Director of Counseling.
Responsibilities of the University Counselor in Residence include:
- Providing therapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, and groups
- Developing and delivering psychoeducational programming and presentations on topics such as academic problems, alcohol and substance abuse, stress and anxiety, identity issues, eating disorders, and depression
- Providing crisis intervention counseling and responding to emergencies
- Planning and executing outreach activities on topics such as substance abuse, test anxiety, stress management, and severe mental illness
- Providing professional support services to faculty and staff regarding student concerns
- Planning and implementing new counseling programs and services
- Assisting in planning and executing university wide programs, orientation, freshman assembly, freshman seminar, and classroom guidance information sessions for new and returning students
- Assisting in the administration of the University Counseling Center
