Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) is seeking to appoint full-time instructors to join a team of dedicated language teaching staff delivering our undergraduate programs in the School of Foreign Languages. The appointment will start from the onset of the summer term this year.

We are particularly interested in applicants who are native speakers of English, less than 60 years of age, with a bachelor’s degree or above, and minimum of 2 years’ English teaching experience plus a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate. Candidates without the teaching experience should be graduates from a college or a university with a degree in English Education, English Teaching or closely related fields. Apart from the above-mentioned, those with the awareness of the Chinese culture are specially encouraged.

Major duties include:

1. To contribute to the existing undergraduate teaching modules, including the courses of speaking, grammar, reading, writing, and western culture;
2. To maintain the quality of provision by appropriate observance of the requirements in respect of curriculum design, assessment procedures, student feedback, record-keeping etc;
3. To apply task-based teaching approach to the classroom teaching;
4. To undertake professional development training if required and attend team meetings;
5. To participate in the University’s work relating to student recruitment and outreach activities, such as Open Days, Intercultural events, etc.;
6. To undertake engagement activities (e.g. seminars on English or the western culture, English corner) which are open to the community of the whole university.

Salary & Benefits:

• Monthly salary is at least RMB 10,000 to RMB 14,000, with an annual rise based on the assessment results.
• Allowances include,
  1. Return flight reimbursement for international travel expenses is RMB 6,000 to RMB 12,000 per year;
  2. Yearly insurance costs.
• One rent-free staff flat with furniture and essential facilities is provided.
