Skills/Qualifications
Experience with radar altimetry, SAR/InSAR, or SWOT data; machine learning applied to Earth Observation; cloud geospatial platforms (Google Earth Engine, Pangeo); hydrodynamic modelling; GIS analysis
Specific Requirements
- Global-scale analysis of delta hydrodynamics and morphodynamics using new satellite-derived products from SWOT and NISAR, notably water slopes, water level variability, connectivity, and inundation dynamics, and fusion of altimetry, SAR, and multispectral time series to track flooding patterns and sediment-water interactions
- Machine-learning approaches for classification, retrieval, and pattern discovery in large Earth observation datasets, including geospatial foundation models
- Connecting satellite observations with our numerical models and in-situ measurements in the Danube Delta
- Participation in the field campaigns organized in the project
- Participation, whenever requested, in the project team’s working meetings
- Drafting monthly activity reports
- Contributing to the drafting of the project deliverables
- Coordinating and contributing to the writing of scientific articles

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
- PhD diploma in Earth Sciences, Remote Sensing, Hydrology, Geodesy, Physical Geography, Oceanography, Data Science or a related field
- No previous employment relations with University of Bucharest
- Strong programming skills in Python (experience with geospatial libraries and handling large geospatial datasets)
- Interest in working with novel satellite datasets
- Curiosity about deltaic and coastal systems and their global significance
- Ability to work independently while being a good team player
- Previous experience in publishing in highly ranked international scientific journals
