Offer Description
The University Centre on Tautomeric Research and Education in Science and Technology (UCTREST) is a newly established independent unit of University of Plovdiv, associated to the Faculty of Chemistry. UCTREST is an interdisciplinary center of high level fundamental and applied research and training in the proton transfer related hi-tech materials and processes, sensors and tautomeric controlled drug design, headed by Professor Liudmil Antonov. It consists 3 subdivisions, namely "Fundamental aspects of the tautomerism", "Exploiting excited state intramolecular proton transfer" and "Tautomerism and bioactivity", each contaning two R3 and two R2 researchers and a number of PhD students.
UCTREST invites applications for a researcher the subdivision "Tautomerism and bioactivity". The successful candidate is expected to contribute to cutting-edge research focused on tautomeric systems.
We are looking for a researcher (R2), hired on a temporary base (20 hours per week with a gross monthly salary of 1 000 euro) for 6 months with possible prolongation depending on the results. The requirements and duties are described below.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
- Doctor in biochemistry or related discipline;
- Have at least 5 years’ practical experience in using biological assays for testing of bioactivity (incl. cytotoxicity and inhibitory activity tests) of small molecular compounds, including peptides and natural compounds;
- Have experience in statistical evaluation of scientific results obtained from bioactivity tests;
- Have experience in writing scientific publications;
- Have documented experience in participation (in the past and currently) in research projects financed from external sources;
- Demonstrate good organizational and didactic skills in teaching, supervising and tutoring undergraduate and graduate students (BSc and MSc) in medicinal chemistry or related discipline.
Specific Requirements
To participate in the drug design program of the group, to participate in training within the group and teaching at various levels, to prepare scientific publications and funding applications.

Selection process
The selection will be based strictly on merit. Pre-selection process will be performed by an international selection committee, based on the application documents. If needed the committee will contact the applicants in the shortlist for additional information.
