Upward Bound Advisor for Washington County
Bowdoin College's Upward Bound/TRIO programs are grant-funded through the US Department of Education and designed to provide fundamental pre-college support to income eligible participants from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. Bowdoin College Upward Bound serves 14 target high school schools in two Maine regions - Washington County and Mid-Maine with the ultimate goal of ensuring students are successful in their pursuit and completion of higher education.
The UB Advisor provides one-on-one school-based academic, personal, career and college counseling to area students as well as small and large group activities and training/oversight of area tutors and mentors. The UB Advisor works closely with target school staff and families in Washington County to identify and recruit eligible area students as well as plan and implement regional outreach activities including: tutoring, college visits, mentoring, job shadows and cultural enrichment. This position is year-round and requires being present on Bowdoin College Campus for the summer program. The Upward Bound Program at Bowdoin College is grant-funded through the U.S Department of Education and this position is contingent on continued grant funding.
