Salary: $45,100 - $50,750
Provides basic to intermediate support to students, faculty and staff covering five operating systems environments and associated hardware and software. May assist with the creation and maintenance of computer accounts.
- Analyzes computer user problems and recommends and implements hardware and software solutions.
- Schedules office visits, troubleshoots computer problems and diagnoses cause.
- Installs and configures software components on various operating systems.
- Maintains Computer Server resources; may teach or provide hands-on computer courses and workshops.
- Analyzes computer needs of department and provides assessment of technology trends in computer systems.
- Facilitates network assignments by gathering information and disseminating requests and results.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The University of Houston College of Pharmacy is seeking a customer-focused and technically skilled User Services Specialist II to join our Information Technology Support team. Reporting to the Director of College IT Support, this position provides front-line technical assistance and end-user support to faculty, staff, and students across a diverse computing environment.
The successful candidate will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, install and configure computer systems and applications, support network and server resources, and assist users with technology-related needs. This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to communicate technical information to individuals with varying levels of technical expertise.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving computer-related issues, coordinating support requests, configuring software and operating systems, assisting with technology assessments and recommendations, and supporting departmental technology initiatives. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative academic environment that supports teaching, research, and administrative operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum one year of directly related technical support experience.
Knowledge of computer hardware, software installation and configuration, operating systems, and end-user support.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
