West Virginia University School Eye Institute and the Department of Ophthalmology seek a Uveitis Specialist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of Uveitis. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an Ophthalmology residency program, as well as evidence of expertise in Uveitis with completion of a fellowship program or equivalent experience. Additional training in other areas such as Medical Retina, Vitreoretinal, Cornea, Glaucoma or other areas will also be considered. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Ophthalmology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
At the WVU Eye Institute you will treat a diverse population and have exposure to clinically challenging cases. The WVU Eye Institute houses all subspecialties of ophthalmology as well as an active research program. With ongoing expansion this role offers the opportunity to be busy quickly.
The Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmology department in the state. The nationally recognized Vision Research Center has made profound contributions toward advancing vision science and has collaborative partnerships with other WVU Departments and research institutions to build vision related research. The research program currently is in receipt of seven R01 grants, one COBRE grant, and 16 industry sponsored studies.
The WVU Health System Board of Directors approved funding to construct a new 150,000 square foot facility that will allow the WVU Eye Institute to better meet the needs of patients which will include 102 exam rooms, 44 testing rooms, and surgical suites.
