This is a full-time, 40-hours a week position. The expected schedule for this vacancy will be Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts between the hours of 7:30am – 5:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Incumbent will be hired on a terminal project position. This position will have an expected end date of 1-year from the date of hire with the opportunity to extend based on department needs.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing
- Completes routine laboratory tests and collects specimen according to established medical orders and care plans
- Documents and disseminates results to the appropriate entities
- Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions
- Prepares, completes, and documents basic technical animal care procedures, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity
- Monitors animal health status and records, notifies veterinarian when status changes, and ensures care plans are completed and recorded in the medical record
- Assists with the execution of more complex animal care procedures and affiliated activities
- Participate in teaching and mentoring activities, including supervision of veterinary students during clinical rotations.
- Assist in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with hospital protocols.
- Provide high-quality technical support for small animal primary care services, including patient restraint, sample collection, diagnostic testing, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care.
- Facilitate patient flow during appointments to ensure efficiency and a positive client and patient experience.
- Support veterinary students in clinical skill development by demonstrating technical procedures, providing feedback, and modeling professional communication with clients and colleagues.
- Work directly with the technical team to maintain high standards of patient care, hospital cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative learning environment for clients, students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate with faculty veterinarians to ensure consistent patient care and smooth clinical operations.
- Tracks supply inventory levels and places replenishment orders
- Provide technical support to assigned small animal services
- Assist in the management of client communications via phone, email, and in person, including scheduling and coordinating appointments.
