Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students
The University of Manchester is seeking an exceptional academic leader to serve as Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
This is a strategically critical leadership role, central to delivering the University’s Manchester 2035 vision and shaping a world-leading student experience at scale.
The Role
As a member of the University’s extended leadership team and Faculty leadership team, you will provide strategic and academic leadership for Teaching, Learning and Students across a large and complex faculty.
You will:
- Lead the development and delivery of a forward-looking Teaching, Learning and Students strategy aligned to Manchester 2035
- Shape a demand-led, interdisciplinary portfolio informed by research-led curricula and digitally enabled pedagogy
- Work in partnership with students, academic leaders and Professional Services to deliver an outstanding and inclusive student experience
- Drive innovation in curriculum design and pedagogical practice, including the use of emerging technologies
- Lead portfolio review, quality assurance and regulatory compliance across all programmes
- Oversee key aspects of student experience, including appeals, complaints and fitness to practise
- Build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, industry and global education organisations

You will bring:
- A strong academic reputation with a track record in teaching, learning and educational innovation
- Significant senior leadership experience in complex, multidisciplinary environments
- A clear strategic vision for higher education, including digital and pedagogical innovation
- Experience of portfolio development, curriculum reform and market-informed decision making
- Strong understanding of the UK higher education and health education landscape
- A commitment to partnership with students and enhancing the student experience
- Experience of building partnerships with healthcare systems, industry and global education providers
- A commitment to inclusive leadership and organisational development
