Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Therapy
Primary Purpose of the Position
Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University invite applications for a 12-month, visiting Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Therapy faculty position beginning August 1, 2026. The ideal person will have Generalist skills in physical therapy and be able to teach content in one or more of the following areas: Pediatrics, Lifespan, Pharmacology, Physiology, and assist in laboratory courses. The person may also have an opportunity to assist in clinical education. We seek an exceptional candidate whose primary role will be to teach graduate courses, serve as a faculty mentor in pro-bono clinics, serve as a faculty advisor, and mentor students. The person may have an opportunity to produce scholarly research that results in publications in peer-reviewed journals within the discipline, present at professional conferences, engage in procuring extramural funds with interdisciplinary teams, participate in departmental, school, and university service, and engage in service to the professional discipline and the larger Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, NC community.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Faculty in the Department of Physical Therapy prefer candidates who:
- Have at least two years of experience teaching physical therapy in a physical therapist education program;
- Are Board Certified Specialists (ABPTS)
- Have previous experience in teaching online or have experience in using Canvas or a similar Learning Management System;
- Have five years of clinical experience in the practice in physical therapy
