Basic Function
Riverside City College is seeking a Visiting (one-year temporary) assistant professor in Kinesiology/head men's basketball coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in the discipline of Kinesiology and serve as the Head Men's Basketball Coach. The coaching portion of this assignment is a required condition of employment.
Education
Master's degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education; OR Bachelor's in any of the above and a Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy; OR the Equivalent required. Master's degree in kinesiology is preferred.
Experience
Two years of university or community college experience in coaching and teaching or four years of high school head coaching and teaching experience is desired.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize, recruit, and coach community college men's basketball within the framework of college policies and procedures.
- Establish good working relationships with athletes, college staff, and community and booster organizations.
- Fulfill instructional assignment, including lecture and laboratory classes in the kinesiology discipline and coaching basketball.
- Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor, including but not limited to, conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, department and division meetings, curriculum and program development, "Flex" professional development, and student activities.
- Other responsibilities include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
- Teaching assignment may include early morning (e.g., 7:00am) day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus classes.
Conditions of Employment
This is a long-term temporary, non-tenure track position for the 2026-2027 academic year.
