The Department of Biology at Washington and Lee University has two openings for one-year Visiting Assistant Professor positions for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning July 1, 2026. Each position carries a 6-course teaching load distributed over Fall and Winter terms (12 weeks each) and the university's 4-week Spring Term. Candidates should be prepared to teach a 200-level course in Genetics with lab. In addition to genetics, we seek candidates who can teach (1) introductory courses in data science using R or Python or a general biostatistics course, and (2) 200 or 300-level courses in their area of expertise. Ideally, one of the candidates would have expertise in plant biology.

Qualifications
Preferred candidates will hold a Ph.D. or have ABD status in Biology or adjacent fields and experience conducting analysis of biological data.
