Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies
Job Summary
The Department of Hispanic Studies at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences in Spanish language and modern or contemporary Latin American literatures and cultures in a comparative perspective. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one academic year, beginning Fall 2026, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will teach three courses in the general area of Spanish language and modern or contemporary Latin American literatures and cultures, and two in Comparative Literature—one course at the introductory level and one at the 200-level—that also count toward the major and minor in Hispanic Studies. These two English-taught courses will take a comparative approach to Hispanophone literatures and may include other literary-linguistic traditions within or beyond Europe and Latin America, depending on the candidate's expertise.
Required qualifications
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D. degree (in hand by May 2026). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful language teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Oberlin College values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
