- Master's degree in Political Science or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate work in Political Science.
- Demonstrated college teaching experience.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate education.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience teaching online classes.
Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.
Preferred
- Doctorate in Political Science or a related field. Candidates who are near completion of their Ph.D. will be considered.
- Experience teaching dual credit courses in state and federal government.
- Experience teaching online, synchronous and asynchronous classes using Blackboard.
- Familiarity with dual credit curriculum and academic standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching a 5/5 load (5 dual credit courses each long semester) in Political Science, primarily the PS 2305 (federal government) and PS 2306 (Texas state government) classes. Each class will have a max of 25 students, and each will be taught from a PRE-designed course shell. The instructor will update course materials, facilitate engaging online learning experiences, and assessments and provided required documentation at the end of each term. Other duties may be assigned if dual credit needs fall below 5 courses per semester.

This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.
