Visiting Assistant, Visiting Associate, or Visiting Professor of Economics
The Williams College Economics Department invites applications for a visiting faculty position in macroeconomics for the 2026-27 academic year, beginning July 1, 2026. Teaching responsibilities will consist of four courses, two in each of the fall and spring semesters. For at least one of the semesters, two sections of the same course will be taught and that course will likely be Introductory Macroeconomics. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential. We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and strongly encourage individuals whose experiences and perspectives will enhance our commitment to academic excellence and innovation to apply. Candidates should expect to have a Ph.D, or all requirements for the Ph.D. degree completed, by July 1, 2026, and we welcome applicants who have recently retired or are on leave from other institutions.
We are a department of active scholars (https://econ.williams.edu/) and currently have 25 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. The teaching load is two courses per semester, frequently with a double-prep in one of the terms. We offer extensive support and resources to help one succeed in teaching and research, including, among other things: access to research funding; programs for professional development, mentoring, and networking; and an evidence-based center to support teaching. For further details on teaching and research at Williams, see: https://econ.williams.edu/jobs/working-in-the-williams-econ-dept/.
All applicants should submit a cover letter, their curriculum vitae, a recent research paper, and evidence of successful teaching. The cover letter should speak to the applicant's ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to, among other things, gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and/or religion. Candidates must also submit two letters of recommendation that address teaching. We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled, and we are aiming to complete the search by April. All materials should be submitted through Interfolio at https://apply.interfolio.com/181873. Email, fax, or paper applications cannot be accepted. All offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background check. Further information is available here: http://dean-faculty.williams.edu/prospective-faculty/background-check-policy/.
