The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in philosophy of science. The position will be based in the School of Humanities and the DFG Research Training Group (GRK 2696) "Transformations of Science and Technology".
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- We are looking for applicants with a proven track record in the field of philosophy of sciences, preferably with a focus on political philosophy of sciences. This is proven by research activities and publications in peer reviewed journals as well as by an international orientation.
- Candidates should be interested in and should ideally already have experience in interdisciplinary research, as cultivated at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Science and Technology Studies (IZWT), in particular in the Research Training Group 2696.
- Candidates are expected to teach in the philosophy programme at the University of Wuppertal and to participate in the study programme and co-supervision of doctoral students in GRK 2696.
- Candidates are expected to contribute to the research activities at IZWT and GRK 2696. Cooperations outside the IZWT at the University of Wuppertal are also desirable as well as participation in the University's Research Area Field 2: Next Generation Learning, Teaching, Knowledge Transfer (NextGen) and the University's Research Area Activity Area 3: Shaping Sustainable Societal Transformation (Shape).
- It is expected that adequate German language skills will be achieved within the first two years of employment, namely at level B2 within the first year and at level C1 within two years at the latest.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed degree (master or equivalent from university or university of applied sciences) in philosophy of sciences
- Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, a topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable.
- Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated in the appointment procedure.
You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications, relevant teaching experience, international cooperations and experience in conducting research projects. Please enclose relevant certificates and supporting documents with your application.
Starting as junior professors, they are appointed normally as civil servants for a period of three years. These positions are extended for three more years if the junior professors have successfully passed an interim evaluation.
