Required Qualifications
Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of assigned duties, including reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, climbing, and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel or equivalents and portable electronic communication devices.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience using inventory management database programs and/or warehouse experience.
- Proficiency in maintenance management systems to manage work orders.
- Ability to operate a 1-ton truck or larger single-axle vehicle.
- Experience with light carpentry, maintenance, and furniture repair.
- Ability to perform basic math and use trade-specific tools (i.e., pallet jacks, moving equipment, hand tools).
Job Description
The Warehouse Worker supports the Department of Housing and Residential Life with warehouse operations, furniture and equipment management, fleet support, inventory control, and some facilities maintenance. This position ensures the timely distribution of supplies, furnishings, and equipment that supports the department and student residents. The role also assists with warehouse organization, receiving supplies and equipment, some supervision of student employees, and general maintenance and transportation support. Success in this position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to safely perform physical labor in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties
Warehouse Management
- Organizing, retrieving, and delivering stock, supplies and materials.
- Removal and documentation of surplus goods.
Fleet Management
- Assist with the preventative maintenance of the Department's fleet to include light maintenance.
- Transporting vehicles to the university's vehicle garage for routine preventive maintenance or needed repairs.
- Adding fuel to gasoline powered vehicles, keeping up the general appearance of the fleet.
Furniture Management
- Yearly inventory and audits of university housing furniture.
- Assist with the delivery, installation, relocation, and removal of residential furniture and equipment.
- Complete any assigned special setup projects.
- Inspect furnishings and equipment for damage and coordinate repairs or replacement as needed.
- Ensure furniture and equipment are available and distributed to support departmental operations and student occupancy needs.
Customer Service
- Managing work orders submitted by staff and student residents.
- Other department or divisional duties as assigned
