Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The University of Canterbury has an incredible story to tell, one best shared through the voices of our people, our research, and the impact we make in our communities. We are seeking a talented and detail-focused Web Editor to join our Engagement team and help bring that story to life across UC’s digital platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled digital communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys working across a broad range of stakeholders, and has a passion for producing high-quality online content.
- Create, edit and publish engaging web content across UC’s digital platforms.
- Maintain and improve website content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, consistency and alignment with UC brand standards.
- Collaborate with teams across the University to deliver user-focused digital communications and campaigns.
- Optimise content for usability, readability, SEO and audience engagement.
- Support the ongoing improvement and governance of UC’s web presence and content practices.
- Monitor content quality and ensure information remains current and relevant.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be a proactive and collaborative digital communications professional with strong attention to detail and a passion for creating quality online experiences. To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Web Editing/Publishing, Web Design, User Experience, Digital Marketing) or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years' experience in working with web content, content management systems, or digital publishing
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor content for different audiences.
- Experience working with web accessibility, usability and digital content best practice principles.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder relationship skills and the confidence to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
- An understanding of brand, style and content governance requirements in a large or complex organisation.
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.

You will be part of UC’s Marketing, Communications, and Events function, working alongside Marketing Leads, Digital Services, content owners, and other stakeholders, the role ensures priority web pages are accurate, audience-focused, on brand, search-optimised, and aligned with UC’s strategic, recruitment, marketing, and faculty priorities.
