Welding Technology Instructor

Qualifications Required

A minimum of a bachelor's degree or higher in the field or a related field and three (3) years of collective relevant work experience. or An AAS degree and recognized industry certification, such as AWS certification, and three (3) years of collective relevant work experience. or An AAS in the field or a related field and five (5) years of collective relevant work experience. or More than ten (10) years of collective work experience; industry certification and enrollment in a related AAS degree program.

The candidate must have thorough knowledge of welding processes and procedures including safety requirements for the workplace. Must have an understanding of metals, layout, and design. Knowledge of multi-position, flux-cored, submerged-arc, and pipe welding and preparation is desired. Candidates should have or be willing to earn welding certifications. This position requires excellent communication and organization skills. Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office computer applications are helpful.

General Summary

As part of the Welding Technology program, the instructor will teach courses on basic shop practices and safety procedures, welding codes and standards, blueprint reading, oxyacetylene welding, cutting and brazing, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding. The instructor will need to write and update curriculum, teach workshops and classes in a variety of delivery formats and locations, and serve a diverse student population, including Early College students. Teaching night classes and unique industry schedules is likely.
