About the opportunity

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney (Sydney, Australia) invites applications for academic positions at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor (Level B-D) in the following Schools:

All positions are full-time continuing (tenure-track), teaching and research roles based in Sydney, however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Successful applicants will join a group of enthusiastic, highly research-active, and collegiate academics who deliver a world-class education to our undergraduate and postgraduate students. Successful applicants will have an excellent research record, be able to teach in a range of courses, and will complement the core areas of strength in one or more of the schools listed above and/or push the frontiers to new research areas.

We are particularly interested in applicants that enhance/expand the range of research in the Faculty and build connections between our research strength areas. Please note while all applications are welcome, individual Schools may prioritise candidates aligned with specific focus areas and, with the candidate’s permission, redirect applications to other Schools where there is stronger alignment.

About you

You will develop an independent research program and engage in collaborations within and outside the University, including with industry partners. You will contribute to curriculum development and delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contribute to leadership of the School/Faculty.

The Faculty of Engineering is seeking Academics at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor (Level B-D) who can demonstrate:

  • a PhD in a relevant field. Applicants who have submitted their PhD for examination or will do so in the immediate future can be considered
  • a strong track record in research appropriate to the discipline and level of appointment (relative to opportunity and taking career disruptions into account)
  • ability to teach, engage, and support the learning of students using innovative and modern pedagogies
  • outstanding communication skills and collegiality
  • high-level problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues as they arise.

Term and Remuneration

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Successful applicants should expect an internationally competitive salary, a generous start-up package and a first-class research, learning and teaching environment.
