Qualifications-The student hired for this position should know how to:

- Implement Self-Management Skills: Student must be dependable with strong work habits; able to manage time and priorities, work independently, punctual and operate for the greater good & provide service to all.
- Cultural Inclusion: Student must demonstrate openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and value individuals’ differences.

Times Needed:
Monday-Friday 9am-4pm; Flexible with different shifts available; varied based on events.
Additional Job Duties/Skills/Requirements:
Job Summary: Eco Reps are student representatives who help raise awareness about ecological issues, encourage environmentally responsible behavior, and plan related events and activities. They also organize group activities, collaborative projects, and represent the Eco Reps Program at various campus events.
Goals of the program include enhancing students’ knowledge and skills to successfully communicate sustainability to their peers, increasing overall student awareness of environmental actions and ways to effect individual and group change on campus, and institutionalizing environmental stewardship within the student body.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Engage peers on issues of conservation, personal pro-environmental behavior change, and sense of environmental responsibility.
- Work to identify and implement potential conservation projects on campus i.e., energy management, recycling, water conservation, reducing food waste, etc.)
- Act as a liaison between students and staff on issues of sustainability, wellness, and resource efficiency (i.e., water, energy, school supplies).
- Develop creative outreach materials (posters, emails, eco boards, etc.)
- Represent Eco Reps and sustainability projects at campus events.
Essential Skills:
- Be interested in environmental issues as well as learning how to create personal & systemic behavior change.
- Be flexible, good natured, outgoing and easy to work with;
- Be reliable, proactive, independent, and creative;
- Communicate clearly with other Eco Reps, sustainability staff, and other interested entities;
- Social media marketing;
- Tabling at Events;
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Facebook & Twitter (social-media), excellent problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a current MVCC student in good standing, minimum 2.0 overall GPA, interested in learning more about working at a community college and/or environmental and sustainability related jobs. Comfortable working and speaking with students and other community members. Can work on multiple projects simultaneously and remain organized. Ability to work independently and in a team.

STUDENT MUST HAVE A WORK STUDY AWARD!
During the Fall and Spring, student employees are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours per week and must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours. During the Summer, holiday break and spring break student employees are allowed to work a maximum of 25 hours per week. Summer only, students must be enrolled in 3 or more credit hours. Student employees must always maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. *This position may require a background check. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
