Writer
The University of Maryland, Baltimore is seeking to hire a Writer to provide professional editing support for faculty in the School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine. This includes reviewing and refining research manuscripts, departmental communications, and other public information materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with guidelines. The selected candidate will work with the Department of Family and Community Medicine, collaborating closely with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff to support research, publications and educational initiatives. This is a full-time, contractual position.

Primary Duties
- Gather, write, and organize information for newsletters and other research and public information materials, including University website.
- Assists in organizing, formatting, writing, editing and proofreading stories for publication. Ensures consistency of the University messages to position the University's identity.
- Organizes and maintains files on assigned materials. May help, create, and maintain website for department.
- Responsible for individual writing projects through direct involvement in client meetings, topic research, concept development, vendor contacts, and general administration for various University-supported publications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as English, communications, or journalism.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in writing and editing documents.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience in editing academic manuscripts, grant proposals, or scientific publications, medical editing preferred. Experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred.
Other: Related experience may be substituted for education.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, collaborate with faculty and staff, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Hiring Range: $56,500 - $62,000, commensurate with education and experience.
