Overview & History

The Journal of Web Engineering was founded in 2002 by Rinton Press to fill a gap in scholarly publishing for web-specific engineering challenges. As the web evolved from static pages to dynamic applications, the need for a specialized journal became evident. It has since become a cornerstone for research in building robust, scalable web systems.

Over the years, the journal has adapted to technological shifts, including the rise of cloud computing, mobile web, and semantic technologies. Key milestones include special issues on web services and agile web development, which have shaped discourse in the field. Today, it continues to evolve, incorporating emerging topics like web AI integration and cybersecurity for web platforms.

Published quarterly, the journal maintains a steady output of peer-reviewed articles that reflect current trends. Its United States-based publisher ensures accessibility while adhering to international standards. Researchers appreciate its consistent publication schedule and the archival stability provided by digital platforms.
