Indexing and Abstracting

PLOS ONE articles appear in major databases, ensuring discoverability. Key indexes include PubMed/MEDLINE for biomedical content, Scopus for broad coverage, Web of Science for citation tracking, and DOAJ for open access visibility. Additional services like Google Scholar and Crossref facilitate global access. This extensive indexing supports researchers in tenure-track positions, where citation metrics matter.

Publication Model and Fees

As a fully open access journal, PLOS ONE charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of $2,482 USD upon acceptance. This covers peer review, production, and perpetual access. Waivers are available for authors from low-income countries or those facing financial hardship. No subscription fees apply, aligning with the goal of barrier-free dissemination. The model promotes equity, allowing research from higher ed jobs seekers to gain traction without paywalls.

Submission Process and Guidelines

Submissions occur via the online portal at the journal's site. Authors prepare manuscripts in PLOS ONE format, including abstracts, methods, and data availability statements. Peer review typically takes 30 days for initial decisions. Guidelines emphasize originality, ethics, and transparency. Revisions address reviewer feedback, with final acceptance leading to rapid publication. For tips, consult academic jobs resources on grant writing that complement submissions.
