Weather and Climate at IUM

The International University of Management is located in Namibia, which experiences a semi-arid climate. The weather at IUM can be described as follows:

• Summer (November to March): Hot and dry with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 35°C. Rainfall is minimal but can occur as brief thunderstorms.
• Winter (June to August): Cooler with temperatures ranging from 5°C to 20°C. This period is dry with very little rainfall.
• Spring and Autumn: These transitional seasons see temperatures between 15°C to 30°C with occasional rain.

Extreme weather conditions include occasional dust storms and heatwaves. The climate impacts commuting by making it necessary to have air-conditioned transport during summer. Campus life at IUM is adapted to the climate with shaded areas and indoor facilities to mitigate the heat. Outdoor research activities are planned around the cooler parts of the day or during the milder seasons.
