Weather and Climate at KFU

King Faisal University, located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, experiences a desert climate. The region has:

• Hot summers with temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F).
• Mild winters with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F).
• Very low annual rainfall, typically less than 100mm.
• Occasional sandstorms and dust storms, particularly in the summer months.

The climate impacts commuting and campus life by necessitating air-conditioned facilities and transportation. Outdoor research activities are often scheduled during the cooler months to mitigate the effects of extreme heat.
