Weather and Climate at KUSA

Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts (KUSA) is located in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The region experiences a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons:

• Spring (March to May): Mild temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C (50°F to 68°F), with cherry blossoms blooming in late March to early April.
• Summer (June to August): Hot and humid, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C (86°F) and high humidity. The rainy season, known as tsuyu, occurs in June and July.
• Autumn (September to November): Cooler temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F), with beautiful fall foliage in November.
• Winter (December to February): Mild winters with temperatures between 0°C and 10°C (32°F to 50°F), occasional snow in the mountains but rarely in the city.

The weather can affect commuting and campus life, with students and staff needing to prepare for hot summers and occasional typhoons. Outdoor research activities are more feasible in spring and autumn.
