Weather and Climate at KPUM

Kyoto, where Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine (KPUM) is located, experiences a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons.

• Spring (March to May): Mild temperatures ranging from 10°C to 20°C, with cherry blossoms blooming in early April.
• Summer (June to August): Hot and humid, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. The rainy season, known as tsuyu, occurs in June and July.
• Autumn (September to November): Cooler temperatures from 15°C to 25°C, with beautiful fall foliage in late October to early November.
• Winter (December to February): Cold with temperatures ranging from 0°C to 10°C, occasional snowfall, but generally less severe than other parts of Japan.

The climate can impact commuting, especially during the rainy season and winter, when students and staff might need to take extra precautions. Campus life and outdoor research activities are most vibrant during spring and autumn.
