Weather and Climate at KIU

The climate at Kyushu International University (KIU) is characterized by a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Summer temperatures can reach up to 32°C (90°F), while winter temperatures can drop to around 5°C (41°F). The region experiences significant rainfall, particularly during the tsuyu (rainy season) from June to mid-July.

• Spring (March to May) is mild and pleasant, ideal for outdoor activities and research.
• Summer (June to August) can be hot and humid, affecting commuting and campus life.
• Autumn (September to November) offers cooler temperatures and less humidity, making it a comfortable time for academic pursuits.
• Winter (December to February) is cooler but rarely experiences heavy snowfall, though occasional cold snaps can impact outdoor activities.
