Weather and Climate at SU

Soochow University, located in Suzhou, experiences a humid subtropical climate. The city has four distinct seasons:

• Spring (March to May): Mild and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C. Rainfall increases towards the end of the season.
• Summer (June to August): Hot and humid with temperatures often exceeding 30°C. This period sees the highest rainfall, with occasional typhoons.
• Autumn (September to November): Cool and comfortable, with temperatures dropping from 25°C to 10°C. This is considered the best time to visit Suzhou.
• Winter (December to February): Cold with temperatures ranging from -5°C to 10°C. Snowfall is rare but possible.

The weather can impact commuting, especially during heavy rain or typhoon seasons, and may affect outdoor research activities. However, the campus life at SU adapts well to these conditions with indoor facilities and events.
