Academic Calendar and Important Dates for UoM

The academic year at the University of Moratuwa is divided into two semesters:

• First Semester: Typically starts in October and ends in February.
• Second Semester: Starts in March and ends in July.
• Exam Periods: Exams are usually held in December/January for the first semester and in June/July for the second semester.
• Holidays: The university observes national holidays and has a break between semesters.
• Faculty Application Deadlines: Vary by department, but typically occur in the months leading up to the start of each semester.
• Sabbatical Dates: Sabbaticals are arranged on an individual basis and are not tied to specific dates on the academic calendar.
