Weather and Climate at UoM

The University of Mysore, located in Mysuru, experiences a tropical savanna climate. The city has three main seasons:

• Summer (March to May): Temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C, with occasional heatwaves pushing temperatures above 40°C.
• Monsoon (June to September): This period sees heavy rainfall, with average precipitation around 800 mm. Temperatures during this time range from 20°C to 28°C.
• Winter (October to February): The coolest months, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This is considered the most comfortable time of the year.

Extreme weather conditions include occasional thunderstorms during the monsoon season. The climate affects commuting and campus life by making the monsoon season challenging for outdoor activities and research, while the winter months are ideal for such pursuits.
