Dubai RTA Deepens China Ties for AI-Powered Smart Metro Blue Line and Future Rail Networks

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has expanded strategic partnerships with leading Chinese technology and rail companies to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and smart transport systems across the emirate’s mobility network.

The agreements, signed during a high-level delegation visit to China, focus on supporting the Dubai Metro Blue Line project and future rail initiatives. They mark a significant step in RTA’s push toward next-generation public transport that leverages advanced AI for operations, signalling, and urban mobility management.

Key Partnerships with Huawei and CASCO SIGNAL

RTA signed two memoranda of understanding with Huawei Technologies and CASCO SIGNAL LTD. The deals target AI-enabled solutions for traffic management, unified data platforms, smart operations centres, and advanced rail signalling and communications systems.

The partnership with CASCO SIGNAL, a specialist in metro and rail signalling, includes the establishment of an advanced research and development centre and innovation laboratory in Dubai. This facility will support testing, training, and development of AI-powered signalling, communications, and operational systems before deployment on the Blue Line and future projects.

Huawei’s collaboration will focus on smart city applications, AI-driven traffic and incident management, digital infrastructure enhancements, and unified transport data platforms to improve overall network efficiency.

Delegation Visit and Knowledge Exchange

The RTA delegation, led by Director General Mattar Al Tayer, visited Shanghai and other Chinese cities to review best practices in AI-powered control centres, smart metro operations, high-speed rail technology, and modern bridge and tunnel construction methods.

Discussions also covered opportunities for Chinese expertise in managing smart metro systems, AI-enabled monitoring and control, and station and public transport management solutions.

Strategic Context for Dubai’s Transport Future

These partnerships align with RTA’s broader strategy to embed emerging technologies and artificial intelligence across its operations. They support the development of the digital infrastructure needed for future rail and metro projects while enhancing the efficiency of existing networks.
