Dawn Cameron is a Senior Lecturer and Lead Midwife for Education at the University of the West of Scotland. A registered nurse and midwife, she brings extensive clinical experience from Scotland and Australia, where she worked in community nursing and midwifery, home birthing services, chronic disease management, and public health roles including the development of an obesity strategy for NHS Highland and smoking cessation services. She previously coordinated a government-funded midwifery training programme in Queensland, Australia, and has taught nursing and midwifery at the University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and the University of Stirling, where she served as International Lead and Lead Midwife for Education.
Dr Cameron holds a PhD based on a mixed-methods study of diabetes self-management. Her research specialisations include gestational diabetes mellitus, prevention of type 2 diabetes following gestational diabetes, health behaviours of undergraduate nursing students, and advanced midwifery practice. She has contributed to key publications such as chapters on diabetes and metabolic disorders of pregnancy and peer-reviewed articles on technology-based interventions for type 2 diabetes prevention. At the University of the West of Scotland she supervises doctoral students, leads programme approvals with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and participates in university ethics committees and research groups focused on public health and maternal health.
