Dr. Abdulrahim Shamayleh serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah. He earned his PhD in Industrial, Systems and Operations Engineering from Arizona State University in 2010, an MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from San Jose State University in 2004, and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Jordan in 2001. His professional career includes appointments as Assistant Professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals from 2010 to 2014, followed by his transition to Assistant Professor at American University of Sharjah in 2014, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. In his current role as department head, he oversees academic programs and faculty in industrial engineering.
Shamayleh’s research focuses on operations research applications in healthcare, scheduling, supply chain management, facilities planning and design, project management, and healthcare management. He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and certified instructor through the Association for Supply Chain Management. His teaching areas encompass supply chain management, facilities planning and design, project management, production and operations analysis, engineering economics, and cost accounting. Shamayleh maintains active memberships in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, the Association for Supply Chain Management, and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. He received the CEN Teaching Award from the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah in 2021. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications in these domains, with work cited extensively in academic literature.
